About the Home page

This site is the home page of the Israeli Veterinary Services Rabies Information Update. The site is in the Hebrew language.

An overview is given initially on the status of rabies in humans and animals in Israel. Succeeding pages describe the sources of the disease in the area, the clinical signs seen, the propagation of the disease, what to do in the event of being bitten. Details are given on protocols used in Israel to avoid the disease, means to prevent spread of the disease from the initial focus, and how rabies is diagnosed in our laboratory.

Tables are presented to detail the positive diagnosis of rabies in Israel in 1999 and 2007. A map shows the geographical distribution of positive cases in 1996, 1997, 1998,  1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012  and  An epidemiological retrospective study of rabies diagnosis and control in Israel, 1948-1997.
