Thanks for asking; I won’t bore you for too long. My name is Daniel (Danny) Elad; I was born in 1950 in Timisoara, Romania and immigrated in 1961 to Israel. In 1973 I married Eti (short for Esther), then a medical student in Milan, Italy. A year later I joined her there and studied veterinary medicine.

Upon my return to Israel in 1980, I started working at the Department of Bacteriology at the Kimron Veterinary Institute. My son Ori was born a year later. In the following years I got a diploma of Clinical Veterinary Medicine from Tel Aviv University’s School of Continuing Education, my specialization in Veterinary Microbiology and my PhD, the latter in mycology, from the Sackler School of Medicine at the Tel Aviv University (Prof. Esther Segal).

Currently I am the Head of the Division of Bacteriological and Mycological laboratories at the Kimron Veterinary Institute.

In addition I am in charge of the course of Veterinary Bacteriology and Mycology at the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine, The Hebrew University, Jerusalem, at which I am an Associate Professor (adjunct, clinical).

My wife is specialized in ear, nose and throat medicine and classical homeopathy. Ori is studying for his Master's degree at Prof. Ronnie Friedman's laboratory at the Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Quality Sciences of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

This site is oriented towards Hebrew-speaking readers, and its primary objective is to provide students, practitioners and whoever is interested in veterinary microbiology, with a learning and reference tool. For English-speaking visitors, I currently provide some links, info about my department and the Kimron Veterinary Institute. In the near future I will add links to the image library at the site so have a look at the “News” page when you feel like it.

Thanks for the visit

Danny
