Thanks for asking; I won’t bore you for too long. My name is Daniel (Danny) Elad; I was born in 1950 in Timisoara, Romania and immigrated in 1961 to Israel. In 1973 I married Eti (short for Esther), then a medical student in Milan, Italy. A year later I joined her there and studied veterinary medicine.

Upon my return to Israel in 1980, I started working at the Department of Bacteriology at the Kimron Veterinary Institute. My son Ori was born a year later. In the following years I got a diploma of Clinical Veterinary Medicine from Tel Aviv University’s School of Continuing Education, my specialization in Veterinary Microbiology and my PhD, the latter in mycology, from the Sackler School of Medicine at the Tel Aviv University (Prof. Esther Segal).

I was the Head of the Division of Bacteriological and Mycological laboratories at the Kimron Veterinary Institute until my retirement in April 2018. I am still active as a researcher in the laboratory.

In addition I am in charge of the course of Veterinary Bacteriology and Mycology at the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine, The Hebrew University, Jerusalem, at which I am an Associate Professor (adjunct, clinical).

My wife is specialized in ear, nose and throat medicine and classical homeopathy. Ori received his Master's degree at Prof. Ronnie Friedman's laboratory at the Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Quality Sciences of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, After completing his PhD in Canada he, his mate Tara and their two doughters, Oz and Aria returned to Irael. Curently he is in charge of medical laboratories accreditation at the Israel Laboratory Accreditation Authority.

This site is oriented towards Hebrew-speaking readers, and its primary objective is to provide students, practitioners and whoever is interested in veterinary microbiology, with a learning and reference tool.
